Trail Gears for your IQ or ProX

Back to AkRacing Garage

Here are the Polaris Gearing Charts to help you decide what gear to run in your sled.  These charts are only for those sleds with the 7.92 chain case like the IQ's, ProX's, RMK's, etc.  Chose the RPM your motor will turn, then the desired MPH you want to run and match it up to the corresponding gear and chain.  These charts work if you are using the stock 9 tooth driver.  If there is a NR in the box this is because Polaris does not recommend this combination.

Stock chain and gears for the '05 & '06 IQ Racer was 19/45 with the 76 pitch HYVO Chain, 15 or 7/8" wide.   That is a 2.37 gear ratio.  At 8250 rpm and stock gearing the sled should run about 75 mph.

One possible trail combination would be 21/43 using the stock 76 pitch chain.  This is a 2.05 gear ratio.  At 8250 rpm this gear should run about 87 mph.

Another good trail combination would be the 22/43 using the stock 76 pitch chain.  This is a 1.95 gear ratio.  At 8250 rpm this gear should run about 91 mph.

And if you want a little more speed try the 23/43 using the stock 76 pitch chain.  This is a 1.87 gear ratio.  At 8250 rpm this gear should run about 95 mph.

'02 ProX 440 Stock gearing was 20/42 with a 74 pitch chain, 13 or 3/4" wide.

'03 ProX 440 Stock gearing was 19/43 with a 74 pitch chain, 13 or 3/4" wide.

'04 ProXr 440 Stock gearing was 19/43 with a 74 pitch chain, 15 or 7/8" wide.

Use these charts to decide which gear combo works best for you.
